In-Person Adult Book Discussion

September 22, 2021
11:00 am to 12:00 pm
"The Bookwoman of Troublesome Creek" by Kim Michele Richardson

Join us outside on the library lawn for a discussion of this highly rated novel based on two historical aspects of Eastern Kentucky history, the Pack Horse Library Project and Kentucky "blue-skinned" people. The main character, Cussy Mary, is part of both groups. She is a book woman, dedicated to bringing books to her Appalachian community, and also has a rare genetic disorder called Methemoglobinemia which causes skin to appear blue due to low oxygen levels in the blood. Books are available at the library or you can download an e-book or audiobook from Hoopla. Registrations will be limited to allow for safe distancing. Please call 860-646-7349 or email bmlprograms@biblio.org to reserve your spot. We are looking forward to seeing you!
